Sunshine!

The sun’s finally shining! It’s warm outside. Of course, this weather has to be enjoyed. Where can you enjoy it better than in the Viennese MuseumsQuartier? Of course, I took my camera with me. (You’ll find my favourite photo in the end!)

I love it here. I met up with a friend to talk about a presentation we have to do.
Later, we sat in the park with some friends of his. Sunlight! (And: I sat in the park with people I didn’t know – well, except one. That was a lot for me, haha.)

I love university and it’s even better when it’s warm. You can sit in the park before the building when you have an hour break and you don’t freeze – no, you get a tan! You get to know even more people because everybody can invite their friends to come sit without having to ask the host of the party.

Right now, there are sculptures of intestines at the MQ. (They actually are a bar.)

I love the colours!

What I also love about university is that you don’t get pigeonholed. At school, after a year (at the most), you are the one you will be until the end of school. You can’t change it, you will never be seen different. I wasn’t really dissatisfied with my image at school – I also didn’t really care. But at university, no one knows how your grades were. When you get an A, everyone’s happy for you, there are no “geeky” ones who get laughed at because they have good grades. Nobody knows who you were at school, whether you belonged to the “cool kids” or not. I love that. I love that I started studying alone without any friends of mine doing the same thing. I needed to find new people to talk to – I didn’t have any other possibility. And I like all the people I found so much. I also love my friends I know from school, but it’s different. The people I met since last year know me the way I am right now. And I like being different from myself at school.

I also love to be a lot more independent. I always made my own food and that but now I’m even more often away from home. It’s different.
Last week, I made Spinach Feta Toast.

Yummy!

And here comes my favourite photo of the day. I love it. Even though it’s a bit blurry.

Enjoy the sunlight!

Breakfast Sensation

I’m a breakfast type. I need breakfast before I go out of the house – if I miss it, I’ll be hungry all day. Recently, I found my new favourite breakfast. It’s Warm Rice Pudding with Apple.

I don’t actually like rice pudding a lot. Something about the consistency is just not right for me. But this rice pudding isn’t made from real rice. It’s made with Rice Flakes.

I love it. It’s warm breakfast, which I love – but I can’t stand oatmeal and I never found a good alternative. (Yes, I can’t stand oatmeal. I know almost every food blogger loves oatmeal but I just don’t like it. I mean, I never made it with oats before, but with spelt flakes – but I suppose it’s almost the same.)
But this is definitely my alternative. I ate it almost every day of the last week. It keeps my stomach full for quite a long time which is really good because my university time table is far from perfect this semester. I was so looking forward to the weekend just for having a normal daily rhythm for some days again. I know I should be adapting to this “student thing” of eating at strange times and forgetting a daily routine – but I can’t! I’m a person that needs a daily routine. It seems boring, but that’s me – I need that. I feel strange when I lose my rhythm. I don’t like it.

But I don’t want to complain. (Well, at least not a lot.) I love studying so much that I can really put up with that. Yesterday, after my last lecture, I met with some friends, we bought take-away-coffee and sat in the park before university. It’s getting warm again! The sun was shining and we were sitting in the grass! Wow. I don’t know if it’s the sun and spring coming or something else, but it was feeling sooo good.

And now, let’s tell you the recipe of my new fabulous breakfast so that you all can enjoy the

Warm Rice Pudding with Apple

Put 125 ml of milk (I use skimmed) and 125 ml of water in a pot and let it boil.

Watch it! I’m really useless at that, I had to clean the stove so much this week. (And don’t worry, it’s not as much milk-water as in the photo, I was making two servings at once.)

When boiling, stir in about 5 tablespoons of rice flakes. Add a pinch of cinnamon and a pinch of turmeric.

Let it boil for about 5 minutes. Meanwhile, grate one small apple.

Yum. Who doesn’t know how I love apples? I looove apples. Put the apple in and add a pinch of ginger. Stir and then let rest for 5 minutes.

Enjoy it still warm!

Serves one. But you can also make two servings at once and put it in the fridge. Just warm it in the microwave or on the stove next morning.

Hope you like it and your bowl looks just like mine.

Empty bowl, full tummy. (By the way, I would not only eat it for breakfast, but for lunch and dinner too, haha.)

A swirl of cinnamon

Come sit with me. There’s “10 Things I Hate About You” on TV. Let’s drink a cup of coffee. Have a Cinnamon Swirl with it.

Awesome swirl. Tasty. Moist in the middle. Cinnamon! Oh how do I love cinnamon. And I love this film. How cute is the scene in which Heath Ledger is singing! (Oh, I miss him.) And Joseph Gordon-Levitt! He’s awesome, too. I’m glad that he also could make other really good movies after this one. Often, the actors starring in such popular romantic comedies never get a good film again, even though they’re really good.

Since not everybody loves cinnamon (and Heath Ledger) as much as I – let’s say my Dad and my brother – I also made our family Sweet Buns.

And then we had two little baskets full of sweet and tasty treats. They’re almost gone already!

And since it’s Easter time, have a look at another one of our little decoration bunnies.

Sweet cinnamon swirls and cute Easter bunny look like a perfect team. With a cup of coffee, they’re a perfect threesome! And now add “10 Things I Hate About You” aka the film to which I always have to squeal “Aaaaaawww!”. Most perfect foursome!

When I saw those cute cute cute chocolate figures in a store last week, I squealed a bit, too. (In my mind.) They’re awesome! They come from Frey and there were chocolate figures like:

Captain John Rabbit!

A Chocolate Duck!

Aaaaand, cutest of them all: Calimero!!!

Sorry for the a bit blurry photos – phone cam.
Now I got to go, Heath Ledger just gave Julia Stiles a Fender and… kind of bought her back. (That’s kind of strange, I think. Well, but he loves her.) End Kiss!
(By the way, I also watch really good films. Rear Window is in my DVD player right now! But I just love love love 10 Things I Hate About You once in a while.)

Muffin Reconsideration.

Did I tell you I’m not a muffin lover? As of today, I am. Give me a glass of skimmed milk and one of these Chocolate Muffins and I’m happy.

I fell in love with those. I know, I made chocolate muffins two weeks ago, but I wanted to try another recipe. And they turned out perfect. These are my kind of muffin. They taste like those Coffeeshop Muffins I always wanted to reproduce.
